Professor Markus Kuster specialises in both primary and revision replacement of the hip and knee, as well as re-alignment procedures of the knee, including osteotomy. He also has substantial expertise in joint infections and in the management of orthopaedic problems arising out of traumatic fractures.
Professor Markus Kuster trained in Orthopaedic Surgery and Traumatology in Switzerland, qualifying as a specialist in 1995. For more than 30 years he has had close connections with Perth, first as a medical student, and later, as a fellow and researcher at the University of Western Australia. He obtained a PhD in knee joint mechanics at the University of Western Australia in 1999. He has more than 70 peer reviewed publications in the Orthopaedic Literature covering fracture management, knee joint biomechanics and knee replacement. He is currently Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery, and Consultant, at both Royal Perth Hospital and Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital.
Professor Kuster is happy to see patients with hip and knee problems at the West Perth office. He operates privately at Hollywood Hospital.
