What are POSM’s Opening Hours?
Our opening hours are from 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday. We are not open on public holidays.
Do I need a referral from my GP to see at surgeon at POSM?
Yes, you will need to obtain a referral from your GP prior to seeing one of our surgeons.
How do I make an appointment?
Please contact one of our friendly receptionists on 08 9212 4200 who will be able to put you through to the relevant surgeon’s secretary.
Alternatively you may contact the surgeon’s secretary via email.
What should I bring with me for my appointment?
Prior to your appointment please complete a Patient Information Sheet and provide a copy of your referral by forwarding to info@perthortho.com.au or direct to the relevant surgeon’s secretary.
If you are unable to send these in prior to your appointment please bring with you to your appointment, ensuring you arrive 10 mins prior to your booked appointment time. You will also be required to bring:
- Your insurance information
- Medicare card
- Copies of results, x-rays, MRI scans etc
- Copies of any other relevant information i.e. progress reports from other treating allied health professionals
Are my consults covered by Medicare or private health insurance?
A portion of your consult will be covered by Medicare and we can organise for this to be automatically credited to your account once payment of our account is finalised. With regards to private health cover, you will need to check with your health fund as to your level of cover.
Do I have to pay my account on the day of my consult?

Can X-rays be done onsite at your clinic?
Yes. SKG Radiology is conveniently located on level 2 of our building.
What happens if I need surgery?
Once your surgeon has explained the need for surgery his secretary will assist you with finding a suitable date for surgery and explain the hospital process in detail. We will then provide you a quote for the cost of surgery outlining any out of pocket costs.
Do you look at non operative treatments?
Yes, we always look at the best possible treatment for your situation. Our on-site Sport and Exercise Medicine professionals specailise in non-operative management of musculoskeletal injuries and exercise related aches and pains. See Dr Rachael Harris, and Dr Thomas Hill.
